Collection of forty-seven autograph poems signed by Paul VERLAINE at the origin of the edition of the posthumous works at Messein. Collection of 47 autograph poems signed on various papers and formats mounted on tabs or sheets in one volume, 1891-1895. 65 pages in-8 square. Lavaliere morocco, boards covered with a repeating pattern (red fl eurette with green leaves) mosaicked in a frame of sand and dark brown morocco scrolls, spine decorated with scroll boxes of the same, sandy morocco lining set with a gilt fi le and framed with green and dark brown listels, green silk endpapers, double marbled paper endpapers, guilloche headpieces, wavy fi le on the edges, gilt edges on witnesses, lined case (Noulhac rel. 1924- Mad. Noulhac.). The Varia section of the OEuvres posthumes published by Messein in 1903 contains 68 poems, 47 of which were published after our collection. Several appeared in reviews but very few in volume. The poems are all signed, unless otherwise stated, quite often dated, and most bear the title in ink or pencil of the collection Varia.
