BREGUET
BREGUET Type XX "Air France No. 2010 Stainless steel wrist chronograph with "in-flight return" function. Round case, screwed back, graduated rotating bezel over 12 hours. Black dial with Arabic numerals, three counters for 12 hours, 30 minutes and seconds, railway minute track. Mechanical movement. Stainless steel bracelet, not signed. Diameter: 38 mm Provenance: by descent to the present owner, originally used by an airline pilot of the Air France company. Accessories: a period cardboard box from Breguet - Chaumet, several models of Air France aircraft of the period (Boeing 707 B Intercontinental, Caravelle, and the supersonic prototype that prefigures the Concorde), pennants for commercial aviation, a vide pocket and various badges and documents. The Breguet Type XX in its vintage version is certainly one of the icons of the 20th century in the field of watchmaking and aviation. Our example was the faithful companion of this former Air France airline pilot, who later decided to bequeath his watch to his grandson. Preciously preserved with all the goodies of the time, this watch is a "time capsule" that brings back to life the rich hours of Breguet and the national airline Air France, symbol of the prestige of France in the four corners of the world. By consulting the accompanying documents, it is easy to imagine the Air France airline pilot with his watch on his wrist, his faithful companion that accompanied him throughout his travels, on board a Boeing 707 or a Caravelle. Two menus of the time are significant, the first one Paris - Tehran and the second one Addis Ababa - Paris, two distant destinations with climatic conditions that certainly explain this patina that has formed over time on the dial of this watch. Indeed, the homogeneous patina of this watch on both the case and the dial are distinctive signs for the eye of the discerning collector, a rare opportunity to acquire a watch that has remained in the same family since its origin, and moreover that of an Air France pilot. Condition report: Nice example of the Breguet Type XX, coming directly from the descendant of the one and only original owner, dial with nice homogeneous patina, unsigned bracelet insert, movement and chronograph mechanism flyback function work, plan on a use overhaul, no warranty. (Condition report provided as an indication according to our GTC).
