Rectangular Mantelpiece screen in finely carved and gilded wood decorated with shells on a background of lattice work and plant scrolls and flowers. It rests on two feet with scrolls. The screen of a tapestry stretched over a wooden panel representing a scene of a salt-maker holding his boyette, a dog at his feet, sitting on the ramparts of a port city and greeting the departure of a sailboat, topped by a garland of flowers, all in a cartouche of rocaille on a plum background. Damask silk counter screen (reported). Regency period. Height : 108 cm - Width : 81 cm Depth : 41 cm (Small wear and tear and chips in the gilding)
