[Geographical maps of M. d'Anville, First Geographer of the King]. Paris : 1746-1771. In-folio, 21 engraved maps mounted on tabs and folded, with colored borders. Contemporary green half vellum with corners, smooth spine, vestiges of laces. Factitious collection of 21 maps (3 of which are preserved in two or three parts), engraved on copper by Guillaume Delahaye after the great cartographer Jean-Baptiste Bourguignon d'Anville, decorated with rocaille cartouches by Gravelot (i.e. Hubert-François Bourguignon d'Anville, brother of the latter). The maps are divided between modern and ancient geography. Provenance: handwritten note in ink on the first flyleaf: "This atlas is shared with my brothers-in-law de la Faye and de Précy following the death of Mr de la Faye my father-in-law [Jacques Etienne Philibert Bouillet de La Faye] which took place on the 1st of October 1841. In Paray on April 27, 1842. G. Bouthier [Jean Marie Gaspard Bouthier de La Tour (1795-1860), former mayor of Paray-le-Monial] ". Earlier engraved bookplate (18th century): "Bouillet [de La Faye]". (Binding very worn, spine partially detached, some light marginal wetness).
