Gothic in-12 (185 x 138 mm), A-[Dv]-f. bl.-[2 ff.]-a-zviii-aa-zzviii-[8 ff.]-[7 ff.]-[f. bl.], in Latin. Bound in red calf with central panel (delimited by cold-stamped fillets) decorated with three vertical parallel bands separated by fillets, alternating, on either side of a central band of fleurons, a band with thistle motifs and a band with fleurs-de-lys and ermines in saltire framing the whole, spine with nerves marked with two cold-stamped fillets and entrenerfs decorated with a network of crisscrossed fillets stamped in cold (period binding). Gothic edition printed on two columns, illustrated with numerous ornate or illustrated woodcuts. The title, printed in red and black, is set in a woodcut frame. Major work written by Roberto Caracciolo of Lecce, bishop of Aquino, known for his numerous collections of sermons printed from 1472 to 1495. This writing and distribution project made him the most printed Italian preacher of the 15th century. Beautiful and interesting 16th century gothic binding with royal emblems. (A few pages browned, marginal wetness, slight lack of title page, binding rubbed, slight spotting, lack of leather at the lower jaw).
