A modern villa" (3 pages in-8, reading notes taken from an article published in 1902 by the art critic Roger Marx, devoted to Jules Chéret's decoration of the villa La Sapinière). " ... Technically, he proceeds from a fusion of the processes of 18th century art and the means of impressionism in its first period... Intellectually, in love with clarity, the desire of festival and passionate melancholy, alert and dreamy, he finds among the characters of our life the characters of the fêtes galantes of Watteau... Practically, he discovered a genre. And at first among the needs of the time, he discovered a possibility of art; he created the illustrated poster, the polychrome poster. It is since his happy initiative that beautiful images come to adorn the walls of the city, climbing the palisades of the streets... " ....
