1966 - Austin Mini Countryman Mk1 French... - Lot 11 - Aguttes
1966 - Austin Mini Countryman Mk1 French collector's registration Chassis n° AA257L919742A - Mythical model - Very good general condition - Ideal combination of colors The iconic Mini produced more than five million units between 1959 and 2000 is no longer presented. As early as May 1960, the range offers a Van version for professionals with a 7.5 cm longer wheelbase. This version was so successful that a 4-seat, glassed-in Estate, named Coutryman and Traveller (at Morris), was launched a few months later. In 1969, after 207 000 units, the new Mini Clubman Estate (197 606 units until 1982) replaces it. The Mini Countryman we present is part of the first series and has been completely restored a few years ago. The program consisted in stripping the bodywork and replacing the damaged parts. The whole car received a new green paint with an off-white roof still very well preserved, as well as a new leather upholstery in Almond Green. At the same time, the mechanics have been entirely restored: engine, gearbox, running gear, cradle, electricity, brakes. After its restoration, this attractive wooden station wagon has only covered a few thousand kilometers, having been exposed in a large car museum. Its owner then decided to part with it in early 2017 and our collector bought it to realize her childhood dream... She decided to offer a meticulous maintenance to her Countryman, including a complete rebuild of the engine so recently that it is still to be broken in. A road test allowed us to verify its ease of driving: the four-speed gearbox is very pleasant, the engine revs up smoothly, the brakes are good and the suspension is pleasant. It is now up to someone who is passionate about beautiful English cars to take up the torch and make the most of this mythical 1960s station wagon.
