PUCCINI Giacomo (1858-1924)
L.A.S. "Giacomo Puccini", Viareggio August 19, 1923, to Carlo CLAUSETTI; 2 pages in-4 on his letterhead; in Italian. To his friend, artistic director of the music publishing house Ricordi, about Turandot. He asks him a favor: in September, in Lucca, there will be a brass band competition ("un concorso de bande"). He will have to give the prize of a gold medal, and he asks him to choose a medal of a certain value, worthy, artistic... Then Puccini will tell him the inscription to be engraved, what does he think? - He is going for a week by car to the Giro [the Tour of Italy], and for two days to Saint-Moritz; he hopes to find everything arranged when he returns... Turandot is now going wonderfully, but also slowly ("Turandot va ottimamente ma anche lentamente")...
