MONET CLAUDE (1840-1926).
L.A.S. "your old Claude", London Wednesday evening [March 1901], to HIS WIFE ALICE; 4 pages in-8 on the letterhead of the Savoy Hotel (2 small marks in red pen, slight discharge of print). Tender consolation to his wife, and progress on his work on the Thames. "What sadness my poor darling in your lines of yesterday. Alas, you know that I understand your pain and I understand that such a moment is a heartbreak for you, but let me beg you not to let yourself revive your grief, and think of those who are left and who suffer to see you like this. You know how much we all love you"... Martha and Butler will be glad to see her.... "I work regularly at the hospital [...] The days grow longer by the day. Time for a walk in the park, and it's already past six. [I worked better today and if this beautiful foggy weather with veiled sun would continue I will do a good job tomorrow, I hope that by dint of searching I will arrive"... He asks for details on the installation of his son Michel in Vernon... "See you tomorrow my dear wife, I love you and think of you well"...
