MILLET JEAN-FRANÇOIS (1814-1875).
L.A.S. "J.F. Millet", Barbizon 22 November 1865, to Narcisse DIAZ; 1 page in-8. "My dear Diaz I am in bed sick with a high fever which has necessitated bloodletting & leeches & other pleasures of the disease. This is to explain the delay I have put in answering you & I hope you will pity me more than you will resent me. I am ashamed to have made you wait so long for your two drawings, but you can expect to receive them from the 15th to the 20th of December. I don't have the strength to tell you any more"... [One of the major figures, along with Millet, of the Barbizon school, DIAZ DE LA PEÑA (1808-1876) came to the Fine Arts after an unhappy childhood. From the 1840s onwards, he oriented his art exclusively towards landscapes, working in Barbizon and in the forest of Fontainebleau].
