CHIRICO GIORGIO DE (1888-1978).
L.A.S. "G. de Chirico", Rome 14 May 1955, to Marcello ANCHORENA; 4 pages in-8 (paper creased, creases repaired). Armand NAKACHE wrote to him "that it is customary in the official French Salons to exhibit the works of a living French painter only with his consent and collaboration", but his lawyer assures him that this is not enough: "It would be necessary to have a declaration from the President of one, or two of the oldest artistic Societies of the official Salons of Paris, in which declaration the said President also cites the article of the regulations (with the number of the article), so that it is quite clear that according to article number ... of the rules of the Société Nationale des Artistes Français (it is, I believe, the oldest), the works exhibited are requested from the artists by invitation etc.". It is certain that there is an article stipulating that the Salon does not have the right to exhibit the works of a French artist "without his knowledge, and by going to collect the works from collectors or dealers. [It's incredible how difficult it is to get what I want. He had already, a few years earlier, tried to obtain these documents "for me so necessary; but I only got things on the side. - And yet it seems so simple. [Why is it so difficult to get what I want?
