1974 – MGB GT
Addition out of catalog Please note that the front skirt is not present. French registration Chassis number: GHD5341638G Attractive and cheap coupe Easy car Sunroof and right-hand drive If the MGB was initially released in 1962, only available as a roadster, it was not until 1965 that the British manufacturer offered an elegant 2+2 coupe version, named GT. This "poor man's Aston Martin" was masterfully designed by Pininfarina, with a slightly higher windscreen, a conveniently large rear hatch, and a roof perfectly integrated into the original design. Apart from the slightly more upscale interior and styling, the layout and equipment are identical to the roadster, but with the latest improvements, including the 5-bearing crankshaft engine. Optional extras include Rudge-type wire wheels with central nut, an overdrive and a Webasto sunroof. All versions combined, 512,880 units of the MGB were built until 1980. The car shown on these pages is an MGB GT that was launched on May 14th 1974. It is therefore one of the last "real" MGBs, before the MGB, before the unsightly restyling of 1975 (the famous rubber bumpers versions). It has spoked wheels, an overdrive and wire wheels with new tires. It was bought by the current owner to initiate his son to the joys of oldtimer, but after having the car repainted (we found many small defects) and the upholstery and sunroof redone, other projects followed. The car works well, and will delight, for example, a young enthusiast who wants to start an interesting renovation project while benefiting from a car that runs, having already benefited from the most expensive work items.
