JOUHANDEAU Marcel (1888-1979)
Autograph MANUSCRIPTS and TAPUSCRIPTS corrected for Les Journaliers, 1957-1976; 228 ff. autographs in-4 or in-8, and 4415 ff. in-4 typescripts with autograph corrections. Exceptional set of manuscripts and typescripts for his Journaliers. Extracts from his diaries, the 28 volumes of Jouhandeau's Journaliers were rewritten to sift through the events of his daily life in a magnificent style; the manuscript of each volume was then carefully corrected before being delivered to the printer. Throughout the volumes, we find a commentary on his life from 1957 to 1974, the persecutions of his terrible wife Élise; the problems with their goddaughter Céline and her escapades; his homosexual loves; his friends, dead or alive (Max Jacob, Leiris, Paulhan, Guitry, Nimier, Cocteau) ; her readings; Marc, Céline's son, whom the Jouhandeau family adopted, and who will enlighten her last years; her animals (the dog Nello, the hen Noiraude, the doves); the house of Rueil; the happiness of living and being oneself; her relationship with religion, etc. For a large part of the 28 volumes published from 1961 to 1983, this collection presents corrected typescripts, and manuscripts for Journaliers III, XVI and XXV).
