He provided the main royal furniture for Versailles, Trianon, Fontainebleau, Compiègne, including the bedroom of King Louis XV or the bed of the duchess of Queen Marie Antoinette. His masterpieces are the testimony of an elegant and refined artistic conception with a remarkable attention to detail. The spiral scrolls, the pirouettes sketched or marked as on our splendid armchair are the signature of this renowned cabinetmaker. Foliot stamped his name only very rarely, and mainly on furniture that was part of an overall decor.
