1922 Panhard Levassor X39
Restoration project Complete Period user notebook French registration title Chassis n° : 60568 Vehicle sold without technical inspection The doyenne brand, licensee of Daimler engines, sold its first car in 1891. At the turn of the century, its production - exceeding a thousand chassis per year - was the first in France. The firm will however turn to the construction of luxury models, medium or high displacement, with engines « without valves » from 1910. Between 1922 and 1930 will be produced Type X39, X43 and X45 having in common the 4 cylinder of 2300 cm3. The example presented here is one of the first Type X39 produced in 1922, and delivered new in September 1923 to Mr. Lacombe living in Poitiers. We have this information from the copy of official factory records in which this chassis # 60568 is listed. Since 1972 in the collection of Monsieur B, this Panhard & Levassor is complete and still equipped with its original engine. Considering the general condition of the car, a major restoration will be expected.
