An important rectangular snuffbox in chased gold and silver and blue enamel. The lid features a enemalled painting under glass decorated with a spouting fountain partially paved with four set diamonds and small old cut brilliants, some of which are colored pink and green form an oriental landscape in relief. The underside of the snuffbox has a polychrome enamel decoration of a bouquet of flowers in a scrolled reserve. Gross weight : 275 gr approximately Condition report: enamel jump on top left, some brilliants replaced Alexandre-Raoul Morel, son of snuff­box maker Gabriel-Raoul, was born in Paris in 1801. He inscribed his two hallmarks with the same difference as his father, one ear, located at 7 rue Neuve-des Bons-Enfants, the first in 1833 for the snuff box and the second in 1849 for the jewelry. Four boxes of this goldsmith appear in the col­lections of the Musée du Louvre described and reproduced under numbers 338 to 341 in the publication "Les tabatières du Louvre" by Mon­sieur Serge Grandjean.
