L.A.S. "Anne de Mantoue", to her "cousin" the count of BRIENNE; 1 page in-4, address with traces of black wax stamps (central fold effrangé and repaired with loss of some letters). Daughter of Charles de Gonzague and Catherine of Lorraine, Anne de Gonzague led a gallant life and married (1645) Prince Palatine Edward of Bavaria (1625-1663); she took an important part in the Fronde, and converted under the influence of Rancé and Bossuet, who pronounced her funeral oration]. "The King having agreed to allow the Abbot of [RANCÉ] to exchange a small abbey he had in Normandy for another benefit, I come to beg you very humbly to give all the necessary dispatches" for Mr. Douel: "He is a person who is extremely important to me and I will have the last obligation if you have the goodness to have the patents [and] the letters he needs sent to me.
