HUGO Victor (1802-1885)
L.A.S. "Victor", [Paris] December 29, 1824, to Count Alfred de VIGNY, "Captain in the infantry regiment in garrison in Pau"; 3 pages and a half in-8, address (small tear by breaking of the seal). So I hardly expose myself to it, I stay at home, where I am happy, where I cradle my daughter [Leopoldine], where I have this angel who is my wife. All my joy is there [...] You know how much I love you, Alfred. Let us greet this new year together, a new year that ages our friendship without aging our hearts. Send me some of the verses that the Muse dictates to you there, and try to come back quickly to write them here, if you run the risk, like me, of no
