CELINE LOUIS-FERDINAND (1894-1961)
5 L.A.S. "LF Céline", Copenhagen [1947-1948], to Henri PHILIPPON; 11 pages in-fol. Nice set to the journalist and friend who visited him in Copenhagen, notably on the purification and the republishing of his works. It is about Jean VOILIER (Jeanne Loviton), successor of the publisher Denoël and holder of the rights, and Maximilien VOX, administrator of the publishing house, lawyers Thorvald MIKKELSEN and Albert NAUD, but also other personalities targeted by Justice: Lucien REBATET, whose death sentence was commuted to hard labour for life; Xavier VALLAT, former Commissioner for Jewish Affairs, and Paul MARION, former Secretary of State for Information and the Press and then to the Head of Government, sentenced by the High Court of Justice to ten years' imprisonment; Adrien MARQUET, former Minister of the Interior and Mayor of Bordeaux, sentenced to ten years of national degradation; Fernand SORLOT, Director of Nouvelles Editions Latines, sentenced to twenty years of national degradation. How happy you are to receive Marion's letters! ...] It seems to me that he's going to get through this without dying too much. - Given the times, given Marquet, given Vallat... As for the unfortunate Rebattet, he had not deserved this hell - far from it. Ambitious, reckless, unconscious, gullible too... That this revenge is cold and foul. 4 years after the fire! Ho
