SAINT-SAËNS Camille (1835-1921)
L.A.S. signed with its monogram in a cartouche decorated with the pen drawing of a branch and a butterfly, Berlin 16 January 1886, to the painter and composer Paul STECK; 4 pages in-8. He comes and goes from Berlin: to Prague, to have Henry VIII represented, and then he doesn't know where. "I am obliged to earn my poor living, I am not like your opulent painters who are going to spend the winter in the middle of flowers, like golden beetles !!!. When I left Paris, your wonderful brochure hadn't yet been published. I'm beginning to think it's long. Your watercolor makes a ravishing effect in my living room, it catches the eye of all tasteful people. The newspapers only talk about the great conductor Steck, he won't want to talk to me when he comes back; if he is still approachable, try to humbly present to him the shy homage of my respect"...
