MANUSCRIT MUSICAL autograph, Malborough Goes to War, [1924]; 51 pages in folio, black cloth-backed paperback. Complete manuscript of the orchestral score of this incidental music for the play by Marcel Achard staged by Louis Jouvet. Marcel ACHARD's comedy, Malborough s'en va-t'en va-t'en guerre !, "song in 3 acts and 4 tableaux", was premiered by Louis JOUVET at the Comédie des Champs-Élysées on December 9, 1924, with music by Georges Auric, composed for clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, violin, cello and piano. This music is composed for clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, violin, cello and piano. This music includes 14 numbers: - First Act. I Overture (Mt de marche, very rhythmic); II Entrée des quatre-z'officiers (Joyeux et vif); III Le Chemin de tous (Moderate, without slowness); IV Trumpets. - Second Act. V The Battle (Prelude) (Lively); VI The Malborough Tent (Interlude) (Cheerful); VII Interlude (Lively). - Act Three. VIII The Top of the Tower (Prelude) (Very Slow); IX Song of Sarah: "Every Corner of the Sky"... (Lively); X [Entrance of the Four Officers] (Slow and grave); XI Walking Movement; XII "The night is going down very slowly" (Very slow); XIII "A great silence. The night has come completely" (Very slow); XIV "What was Monsieur de Malborough, say?" (Moderate). The manuscript is very carefully noted in black ink on 20-line paper, with numbers in red ink; it was used for the engraving of the edition by Heugel.
