FACEL VEGA Facellia COUPÉ 4 PLACES 1963 Collection Francis Staub
The last Facellia built! Has spent all its life in Alsace ! Attractive restoration project Sold without registration papers Chassis number: F2B 440C Monthly production of the Facellia F2B amounted to an average of only 20 or so cars, compared with 43 for the type FA and 30 for the F2 model. With the aim of building five cars per day, Facel was far short of the mark and despite its cars’ many qualities to drive, their styling and undeniable standard of finish, the company needed to modernize in order to survive … Our Facellia is quite simply the very last Facellia of all, from the 967 built in coupé and cabriolet form! Delivered new to the Grand Garage Mulhousien in April 1963, it was finished in “Greggio glacé” with a black leather interior, a dashboard-mounted clock, wheel trims and a 4.10 axle ratio. With the production number 633, it was originally intended to be a cabriolet but was finally completed as a 4-seat coupé to meet the demand just before production of the Facellia came to an end. It was subsequently registered on 8 April that same year and remained with its first owner until 1968. It was then sold to a Monsieur Klein, who used it for a while before it was laid up for more than 50 years in a garage in Alsace. On the advice of his personal mechanic, Francis Staub acquired the car to make up for the shortage of parts, but with the idea in the back of his mind of restoring it completely in order to put it on the road again in Alsace, where its story had begun! With a great many parts missing, it is finally being sold without its engine. The last link in the chain before the introduction of the Facel III, Facellias are so rarely found on the classic car market that this will be an attractive restoration project.
