Rolls-Royce SILVER CLOUD II 1960 Collection Francis Staub
Sold new in France Good overhaul condition Smooth V8 and royal comfort French registration Chassis number: LSWC424 The Rolls Royce Silver Cloud was the most luxurious vehicle ever produced at the Crewe plant in England between 1955 and 1966, and is subject of automotive myths. Its elegant design  impresses at first glance. The Silver Cloud has a box-section chassis with welded bodywork and body parts made of steel and aluminium. The separate chassis from the body allows the realization of special bodywork from famous bodybuilders such as James Young, Mulliner or Park Ward. The car is long, wide but very elegant, and at first glance it looks princely. Launched in 1955 with the 4.9-litre six-cylinder engine, it will be replaced by a more fuel-efficient 6.2-litre V8. It is coupled with a 4-speed automatic transmission for a smooth and voluptuous ride in absolute comfort. The four drum brakes are hydraulic and power-assisted. The suspension is independent at the front and rigid axle with semi-elliptical springs at the rear. Two important options will be offered in the catalogue, power steering and air conditioning. Three generations of Silver Cloud will see the light of day, each with technical and aesthetic evolutions. The model we are presenting today will enter the collection on 27 November 2013. It is a second series delivered new in France by Franco Brittannic. 60 years after it left the factory, its presentation is still flattering. The two-tone grey paintwork  is still beautiful and the different bodywork elements are very straight and alignements are sharp. The chromes, numerous on these cars are also in good condition. While the exterior of the car has kept its royal look, the interior is not to be outdone with light grey leather upholstery and matching carpets. Beautifully patinated, the leathers have kept their softness and provide the front seats and rear bench with a very nice presentation and unequalled comfort. T
