A letter on papyrus sent from Heliopolis to Thebes by a woman named Maatka to her sister Iryt. &nbsp;On the front, in black ink: nine lines of text in hieratic, of very uniform length (between the first and second lines, a short annotation of four squares appears to have been added). The entire original text is preserved, with the exception of a few characters in the last third of line 5, which have been lost due to a horizontal tear in the document (likely caused by the original folding of the sheet at the time of dispatch). On the reverse, the sender and recipient of the letter are identified in black ink (annotations appear upside down on the unfolded document, but must originally have been written on the document whilst it was folded, prior to dispatch). RARE ANTIQUE LETTER ON PAPYRUS

Lettre sur papyrus envoyée d’Héliopolis à Thèbes par une femme nommée Maâtka à sa sœur Iryt. &nbsp;Au recto à l'encre noire : neuf lignes de texte en hiératique, longueur très homogène (entre la première et la deuxième ligne, une courte annotation de quatre cadrats semble avoir été ajoutée ). L'ensemble du texte d'origine est préservé, à l'exception de quelques signes, dans le dernier tiers de la ligne 5, perdus dans une cassure horizontale du document (sans doute due à la pliure originale de la feuille au moment de son expédition). Au verso se trouvent identifiés à l'encre noire l'expéditeur et le destinataire de la lettre (annotations tête-bêche sur le document déplié, mais doivent à l'origine avoir été rédigées sur le document une fois plié, avant expédition). A concave-shaped piece of soapstone, carved on both sides. On one side, in high relief, are two busts of deities, one male and the other female, probably Isis and Serapis. The inner surface is decorated with fluting and a circular garland. The other side, with a fluted border, is adorned with a rosette at its centre, set within a wreath of acanthus leaves and bordered by sinuous vine tendrils. de forme concave en stéatite, sculptée des deux faces. Sur une face en haut relief deux bustes de divinités, l'un masculin et le second féminin, probablement Isis et Sérapis.
