restera une des plus remarquables success stories dans l’histoire
de l’automobile, aussi bien d’un point de vue marketing que
commercial, avec des profits record pour la firme américaine.
Statutaire, fiable et performante, la pony car coche toutes
les cases au point d’attirer rapidement l’attention du pilote
texan Carroll Shelby. Il ne tardera pas à engager la voiture
en compétition avec à la clef trois titres en SCCA, catégorie
Production B, au milieu des années 1960.
Exploitant pleinement ce succès en compétition, Shelby
commença à construire des Mustang modifiées puis homologuées
par Ford qui furent commercialisées par plusieurs distributeurs
de la marque. La première du genre n’est autre que la Shelby
GT 350, apparue en 1965, munie d’une version modifiée du V8
Ford small block 4,7 l (289 ci) développant 306 ch. >
Destiné au marché européen, notre Shelby GT 350 fut commandée
neuve le 21 février 1966 de couleur rouge au tarif de 3 200 $
auquel il fallut rajouter 37 $ supplémentaires pour les sièges
arrière. Il sera envoyé en Angleterre à l’usine de Slough près de
Londres avant d’être affecté au marché français. Cette voiture
est donc l’un des 19 exemplaires livrés neuf en France par
l’importateur exclusif Inter – Sport S.A !
Exposée dans le showroom de l’importateur au 43 quai André
Citroën dans le 15e arrondissement, son premier propriétaire
se fera attendre car ce n’est qu’en février 1967 qu’elle sera enfin
immatriculée. Selon le SAAC Shelby Registery, l’acheteur est
un particulier parisien avant qu’elle ne soit vendue lors d’une
vente aux enchères à Paris en fin d’année 1989. La voiture
est alors blanche avec ses bandes bleues et rejoint un autre
collectionneur français. Depuis cette date, elle n’a connu que 3
autres propriétaires sans jamais avoir quitté la France !
Achetée par son propriétaire actuel en 2013, la voiture est confiée
à la société Burgol Racing non loin de Genève. A son volant, ce
passionné de voitures américaines participera aux saisons 2013,
2014, 2015 et 2016 du Sixties Endurance by Peter Auto mais
aussi au Mans Classic. Vendue avec un stock de pièces d’origine
et un PTH datant de 2008, elle est une redoutable compétitrice
en plus d’être une authentique Shelby, donc éligible au Mans
Classic et bon nombre d'épreuves historiques !
A real master stroke by Lee Iacocca, the Ford Mustang will go
down as one of the most remarkable success stories in the history
of the automobile, both from a marketing and commercial point of
view, with record profits for the American firm. So solid, reliable
and high-performance, the pony car ticked all the boxes that
it quickly attracted the attention of Texan racing driver Carroll
Shelby. He soon entered the car in competition, winning three
SCCA titles in the Production B category in the mid-1960s.
Taking full advantage of this success in competition, Shelby began
to build Mustangs that were modified and then homologated by
Ford, and marketed by several of the brand's distributors. The
first of its kind was the Shelby GT 350, which appeared in 1965,
equipped with a modified version of Ford's 4.7-litre small block
V8 (289 ci) developing 306 bhp. >
Destined for the European market, our Shelby GT 350 was
ordered new on 21 February 1966 in red at a price of $3,200,
plus an additional $37 for the rear seats. It was sent to the Slough
factory near London before being assigned to the French market.
This car is one of 19 delivered new in France by the exclusive
importer Inter - Sport S.A!
Displayed in the importer's showroom at 43 quai André Citroën in
the 15th arrondissement, its first owner was a long time coming,
as it was not until February 1967 that it was finally registered.
According to the SAAC Shelby Registery, the buyer was a
Parisian private individual before it was sold at an auction by
Maitre Poulain at the end of 1989. At the time, the car was white
with blue stripes and went to another French collector. Since
then, it has had only 3 other owners and has never left France!
Purchased by its current owner in 2013, the car was entrusted
to Brugol Racing near Geneva. At the wheel, this American
car enthusiast will take part in the 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016
seasons of Sixties Endurance by Peter Auto, as well as Le Mans
Classic. Sold with a stock of original parts and a PTH dating
back to 2008, it is a formidable competitor as well as being an
authentic Shelby, eligible Le Mans Classic and many historic
events eligible
