L’un des succès de la deuxième moitié des années 1950 en Italie
s’appelle la Fiat 500, petite citadine imprégnée de Dolce Vita. La
mode des autos de ville est en pleine expansion, quand en 1969,
Autobianchi présente son premier modèle de grande production,
l’A112, destinée à concurrencer l’Austin Mini Cooper en Italie.
Le responsable de la branche compétition de Fiat, Carlo Abarth,
voit dès la sortie de cette citadine les potentielles améliorations...
Le Salon de Turin 1971 sera donc le théâtre de la présentation
de la version sportive : l’A112 Abarth. La petite citadine voit sa
puissance passer de 44 à 58 ch, grâce à une optimisation du
moteur d’origine. Quelques années plus tard, le moteur sera revu
une nouvelle fois, et sa puissance passera à 70 ch !
Notre exemplaire est acheté lors de notre Vente d’Automne
2020 par Mr. A., qui a depuis parcouru près de 3 000 km à
son volant. Avant son achat, cette A112 était la propriété d’un
collectionneur bruxellois ayant jeté son dévolu sur cette auto
en raison de ses capacités urbaines, et de sa boîte de vitesses
à 5-rapports (propre au Séries V et VI).
Aujourd’hui, la voiture est en bel état général, sa peinture (refaite
récemment) est de bonne qualité, comme sa sellerie qui ne
présente que quelques défauts dus à l’âge. Son fonctionnement
est, lui aussi, optimal, et sa conduite offre de superbes sensations
! Son frein à main, défectueux au passage du contrôle technique,
sera revu avant la vente.

One of the success stories of the second half of the ‘50s in Italy
was the Fiat 500, a small city car steeped in Dolce Vita. The city
car craze was in full swing when, in 1969, Autobianchi presented
its first mass-production model, the A112, designed to compete
with the Austin Mini Cooper in Italy.
Carlo Abarth, head of Fiat's competition division, saw the potential
for improvement in this city car as soon as it came out... The
1971 Turin Motor Show saw the presentation of the sports version:
the A112 Abarth. The power of the little city car was increased
from 44 to 58 hp by optimising the original engine. A few years
later, the engine was reworked once again, and its power was
increased to 70 hp!
Our example was purchased at our 2020 Autumn Sale by Mr
A., who has since driven it for almost 3,000 km. Prior to its
purchase, this A112 was owned by a Brussels collector who had
set his sights on this car because of its urban capabilities and
its 5-speed gearbox (specific to Series V and VI).
Today, the car is in good general condition, its paintwork (redone
many years ago) is of fairly good quality, as is the upholstery,
which has only a few age-related defects. It also runs perfectly,
and feels great to drive! Its handbrake, which was faulty at the
MOT, will be serviced before sale.
A very interesting alternative to the Mini Cooper!
