Aspes was founded in Gallarate, Lombardy, in the early 1970s, a young and determined company that quickly made its mark on the Italian light two-wheeler market with machines of strong character and a resolutely sporty philosophy. In a 1970s Italy bubbling with a passion for machinery, where dozens of manufacturers were vying for a young and demanding clientele, Aspes chose to distinguish itself through character rather than volume: fewer machines, but ones that were more personal, more engaging, and more true to their sporting purpose.

The Sport is the most direct expression of this philosophy. Its 50cc two-stroke engine is a lively and spirited piece of machinery, fine-tuned to deliver maximum pleasure within a regulated displacement, with meticulous carburetion and a carefully engineered exhaust system, all assembled with the attention to detail of a manufacturer that regards every machine as a statement of intent. The design reflects the best of 1970s Lombard aesthetics: taut lines, bold colours and meticulous details that immediately set the Sport apart from the more anonymous models of its contemporaries.
