Bultaco maintained contact with the famous Rickman brothers, British motocross specialists, who contributed to the development of the first Pursang, better known as the Metisse, which was also manufactured in Britain.

This was the first motorcycle designed by Bultaco exclusively for motocross, which earned the manufacturer an excellent reputation in this discipline. This success, combined with the Sherpa T’s performance in trial riding, made the Spanish manufacturer a key player in off-road disciplines. All Pursang Mk 1 models were manufactured and sold in pale yellow, although in Britain some were produced in red and a small number in green.

The choice of the Bultaco 250cc two-stroke engine is no coincidence. By 1964, Francisco Bultó’s young Barcelona-based brand was already producing engines renowned for their lightness and responsiveness, qualities that naturally complemented the ambitions of the Rickman chassis. The combination of the two resulted in a machine of rare coherence, where every component seems to have been designed for the other.

A 1964 model represents one of the very first expressions of this collaboration, a doubly historic piece bearing the signature of two now legendary manufacturers. It is an absolute rarity, with a heritage value that will only increase with the passing years.
