Three years after the Especial, Derbi had made progress. The engineers at Mollet del Vallès have gained experience and refined the mechanics, and the 1966 Super 125 benefits from all this quiet work carried out away from the spotlight. The name ‘Super’, a step above the simple ‘Especial’, clearly signals an enhanced and more ambitious offering, aimed at a clientele who know the brand and expect more with each new generation.

1966 was precisely the year Derbi began to make a name for itself on the international circuits. The first Grand Prix victories were on the horizon, the company’s engineers were in a creative frenzy, and the Super 125 benefited directly from this momentum: a production machine fuelled by developments from the racing circuit, whose character and liveliness immediately betrayed the sporting origins of a manufacturer on the verge of becoming a global benchmark.

Its 125cc single-cylinder two-stroke engine, in this configuration, is a mature, refined and reliable power unit, endowed with a distinct character that places the Super clearly above contemporary Spanish 125cc models. The presentation reflects the machine’s ambition: modern, cohesive styling, meticulous finishes and enhanced equipment that justify the ‘Super’ designation without artifice or excess.
