In 1970, Kreidler was at the height of its dominance in the 50cc Grand Prix. The Swabian manufacturer’s racing machines, developed with a sophistication worthy of the greatest manufacturers, were rotary-engine models whose lightness and power astounded their competitors; they regularly dominated the world championships and made Kreidler the undisputed benchmark in the smallest of engine capacities. Jan de Vries, Aalt Toersen and Angel Nieto himself carried the brand’s colours around European circuits with unchallenged authority.
The Carrera Cliente is the direct translation of this sporting dominance into the civilian sphere. The name, ‘Carrera’ (Spanish for ‘race’) and ‘Cliente’ (Spanish for ‘customer’), immediately reveals the machine’s purpose and the market it is primarily aimed at. A competition machine delivered to the civilian rider, built with the same care and intention as the factory machines that win Grand Prix races, without concessions, without compromise, without artifice.
Its 49cc two-stroke engine, in this configuration, is the most advanced version of what Kreidler produces for the road: refined mechanics, a carefully designed intake, a meticulously engineered exhaust, and a meticulous assembly that immediately reveals the origins of a manufacturer accustomed to the demands of global competition. An engine built to rev high and fast, with the reliability that only perfectly mastered mechanics can offer.
1970 was precisely one of Kreidler’s most glorious years in competition, and this year’s Carrera Cliente was built in the spirit of victory that transforms every machine produced into an ambassador of a living legend.
Extremely rare and doubly precious for a collector who knows that Kreidler’s great history is not limited to its racing machines alone.
This motorcycle is in perfect working order; however, please note the visible crack on the fairing caused by a fall during the last track session.
