The Cota 330 belongs to the generation of large-capacity trial bikes produced by Montesa in the 1980s. At a time when the discipline was evolving towards increasingly technical and demanding obstacles, the 330cc model met a clear demand from top-level riders for more torque and greater mechanical power to tackle sections that smaller-capacity bikes could no longer handle. Its 330cc single-cylinder two-stroke engine delivers generous and progressive power, characteristic of Montesa’s expertise in trial engine design.
1985 was a pivotal year for the Barcelona-based brand. The partnership with Honda, formalised the following year, was already in the air, and the Cota 330 from this period is one of the last expressions of a Montesa that was still fully independent in its technical and stylistic choices. A position that gives this model a special value in the eyes of collectors attentive to the brand’s history.
Rare in this engine capacity, the Cota 330 is now significantly harder to find (1,300 units) than its 247 or 349 counterparts. A model in excellent condition represents a serious opportunity for any enthusiast of vintage Spanish trial bikes.
