Ulf Karlsson is one of the great names in international trials from the 1970s. A Swedish rider of recognised talent, he distinguished himself on Europe’s most demanding terrain during a decade that saw Spanish trials dominate the world of the sport. His partnership with Montesa follows in the tradition of the great Barcelona-based brands, which have always known how to surround themselves with the best riders to develop and promote their machines.

By this stage, the 1973 Cota 247 was a fully matured machine. Five years after its debut, it had been refined season after season through international competition, with a masterfully engineered chassis, a 247cc two-stroke engine renowned for its smoothness and progressive power delivery, and equipment brought to a level of maturity that the early versions could only have glimpsed. It was on this solid foundation that Ulf Karlsson built his performances.
