Mecatecno was founded in Barcelona in the 1970s. From the outset, the brand was built on a philosophy radically different from that of its contemporaries: to design machines that were both technically innovative and educationally accessible, capable of introducing the youngest riders to the joys of off-road riding without exposing them to the dangers of high-powered machines. A vision that would give rise to a range of miniature trial bikes whose reputation would quickly spread beyond Spain’s borders.
The CUC, whose name humorously evokes the machine’s small size and rounded shape, is the most accessible expression of this philosophy. Its 47.7 cm³ engine is a tiny, endearing two-stroke unit, housed in a chassis designed with remarkable care for a machine of this size, featuring geometry inspired by real trial bikes, refined suspension and ergonomics tailored to young riders. A serious offering, built by people who know the discipline inside out.
1980 was a pivotal year for Mecatecno; the brand refined its range and began to make a name for itself beyond the Spanish market, attracting trial schools and families of enthusiasts across Europe. The CUC of that era was a machine produced in very limited numbers, in small workshops where each unit received a level of individual attention rarely seen in the industry.
