Derbi, short for Derivados de Bicicletas, was founded in Mollet del Vallès in 1922 by Simeó Rabasa i Singla, in the very same Catalan workshops that saw the simultaneous birth of Ducson. Over sixty years of existence, the company has built a global reputation underpinned by dozens of Grand Prix titles; Angel Nieto, Jorge Martínez Aspar and so many others forged their legends on machines bearing the Catalan eagle. A culture of victory that permeates every machine leaving the factory, from the smallest to the largest.

The FDT is the direct embodiment of this sporting heritage in the world of road mopeds. The designation FDT, Freno De Tambor (drum brake), in Derbi’s nomenclature of the time, refers to a specific version of the 50cc range, positioned within the company’s hierarchy as an accessible sports model, tailored for the Spanish youth of the 1980s who demanded character and performance within a regulated engine capacity. A style that was decidedly new compared to the Spanish brand’s previous models.

Its 50cc two-stroke engine is a powerplant directly descended from the competition developments carried out by Derbi on circuits around the world; lively, spirited, and with a liveliness that contrasts sharply with the more sedate offerings of its contemporaries.

Please note that this lot must be collected after the sale near Bagnères-de-Luchon, in the Central Pyrenees, in the town of Les - Lérida; collection must take place between 5 and 10 May 2026.
