In 1963, MV Agusta was at the height of its dominance in Grand Prix racing. World titles were piling up with a consistency that astonished the whole world; John Surtees, Gary Hocking and Mike Hailwood carried the colours of Count Agusta’s team around every circuit in Europe with unchallenged authority. It was against this backdrop of absolute glory that the 150cc road bike was produced: a road-going machine built in the same workshops, by the same men, with the same exacting standards that had produced the world’s most feared racing machines.

Its single-cylinder overhead camshaft engine, the brand’s technical hallmark in both road and racing models, is a mechanical masterpiece of unrivalled sophistication and build quality in this class. MV Agusta does not know how to build ordinary machines, even when targeting the most accessible civilian market. Every detail—the finish of the mechanical parts, the quality of the materials, the care taken in assembly—immediately betrays the origins of a manufacturer accustomed to the demands of global competition.

The 1963 150cc is an elegant and refined road bike, whose understated and coherent lines reflect the Lombard aesthetic of the 1960s at its finest. A presentation devoid of ostentation, which lets the mechanical quality speak for itself rather than the styling – a philosophy typical of MV Agusta.
