Produced by Yamaha from 1973 to 1996, the Chappy established itself as a benchmark for Japanese mopeds. This 50cc or 72cc two-stroke model stood out from its contemporaries. Now a rarity, it is highly sought after by collectors worldwide.

Model 592 from the LB80 range (72cc), this Chappy features the signature elements: a short seat that opens towards the rear, small side tanks and a headlight. Its automatic engine with gear preselector allows it to reach 70 km/h.

This Chappy, delivered in 1975 by the Sonauto Yamaha team, belonged to Víctor Palomo and was used by him for getting around the circuits and paddocks. Never restored, it has clocked up just 3,876 kilometres and retains its full history.

Initially a world water-skiing champion in 1969, Víctor Palomo then turned to motorcycle racing, where he distinguished himself in the 1970s, notably winning the 350cc Spanish Grand Prix in 1974.

A daring and versatile athlete, he also tried his hand at motor racing and won the European Formula 750 Championship in 1976. Suffering from diabetes, he passed away prematurely in 1985 at the age of 36, leaving behind the image of a passionate sportsman who made his mark in several disciplines.
