The TSS, or Tourisme Super Sport in Bultaco’s nomenclature, is the racing machine that forged the brand’s international reputation on the speed circuits. Developed by Francisco Bultó and his engineers with an obsession for lightness and performance, it quickly established itself as one of the absolute benchmarks in the category in Europe, a formidable machine ridden by the best specialists of the time on the most demanding circuits on the international calendar.
Its 175cc single-cylinder two-stroke engine is a powerplant built for performance: lightweight, powerful for its displacement, with a sharp character unique to machines designed without compromise. The frame, suspension and overall geometry are all designed for handling and precision rather than comfort or versatility. A machine that demands as much from the rider as it offers in return.
Purchased in England in 2010, this machine has been entered in hillclimb races, a discipline that suits it perfectly and which has confirmed, decade after decade, that TSS bikes still know how to fight when given the chance. The engine fitted is that of the Bultaco Kart 175cc, equipped with a separate-chamber Amal carburettor. The twin camshaft is original TSS. However, in the interests of transparency and honesty towards the buyer, we must point out that the machine’s complete authenticity is not certified; it may be an assembly of various original parts, a common practice on competition machines that have been used, prepared and modified over the years and seasons.
A genuine racing machine in spirit and use, to be assessed by the connoisseur’s eye.
