Puch was founded in Graz in 1899 by Johann Puch, an engineer of Slovenian origin whose name would become synonymous with manufacturing quality in Central Europe. The company went on to produce bicycles, motorcycles, cars and military vehicles, building over the decades a reputation for technical excellence that extended far beyond Austria’s borders. In the moped and light motorcycle sector, Puch established itself as the undisputed benchmark on European markets.

The VZ R model embodies the Puch philosophy at its finest. Understated, well-built and technically refined, it is aimed at a discerning European clientele who prioritise durability and reliability over ostentation. A tried-and-tested mechanical design, whose reputation for longevity is confirmed by decades of intensive use on Europe’s roads.

1967 was a fine year for Puch, then at the height of its international reach. Its mopeds were ridden by millions of Europeans, from Austria to Spain via the Netherlands and Scandinavia – a continental presence that testifies to the universal trust the Graz-based brand had managed to inspire.
