MV Agusta is one of the most successful brands in the history of motorcycle racing. Founded in 1945 in Cascina Costa, near Varese in Italy, it won 75 world championship titles between 1952 and 1974, establishing itself as the undisputed benchmark in world Grand Prix racing against Honda, Ducati and Gilera. After a long period in the wilderness, the brand was revived in 1997 under the leadership of Claudio Castiglioni with the F4, a superbike designed by Massimo Tamburini, now considered one of the most beautiful motorcycles ever built.
The F3 was unveiled to the public at EICMA in Milan in November 2011. It marked a strategic turning point for MV Agusta: whilst the F4 targeted the 1000cc segment with a pure superbike philosophy, the F3 entered the 675cc niche, then dominated by the Triumph Daytona 675 and the Kawasaki ZX-6R. Its three-cylinder in-line engine was a deliberate choice; sitting between the raw character of twin-cylinder engines and the sophistication of four-cylinder engines, the three-cylinder offers a unique compromise in terms of sound, mechanics and vibration. The engine design is entirely new, developed in-house by the engineering team in Varese, featuring a compact architecture with a reverse crankshaft to lower the centre of gravity.
The RC version, standing for Racing Custom, made its debut in 2015 as a direct tribute to the factory machines competing in the Supersport World Championship. It differs from the standard F3 with a two-tone red and black livery featuring the official colours of the Reparto Corse team, exclusive equipment sourced from the competition catalogue, and a deliberately limited production run to preserve its rarity. Each RC model year is produced in a strictly limited series, numbered and certified by the manufacturer.
The 2018 model is regarded by collectors as the technical pinnacle of the F3 675. Indeed, it marks the final year of production for the 675cc engine before MV Agusta shifted its focus to the F3 800, making the 2018 RC models particularly sought-after on the second-hand and collectors’ markets. Global production is limited to 400 units, all individually numbered, making each model a collector’s item in its own right. Full service history maintained by an authorised MV Agusta network.
