In 1965, OSSA was a company undergoing a major transformation. The brand’s sporting reputation was beginning to be forged on trial and speed tracks, driven by riders who were starting to make a name for themselves on the international circuit. But road production remained the bulk of sales, and the Sport 175 was the most ambitious expression of this road-going ethos – a machine built to appeal to a discerning clientele who did not want to choose between pleasure and quality.

Its 175cc single-cylinder two-stroke engine is a lively and spirited piece of machinery, built to the exacting standards of a manufacturer whose technical heritage is fuelled by competition. With this engine capacity, OSSA offers a machine capable of tackling both urban roads and major highways with an ease and responsiveness that clearly set it apart from its Spanish contemporaries. The name ‘Sport’ is no mere marketing ploy; it denotes a genuinely distinct engine, refined to deliver maximum riding pleasure in a displacement that finally allows for true mechanical expressiveness.

1965 was a fine year for this machine, produced at the height of OSSA’s road-going heritage, before the brand devoted most of its resources to off-road and competition. A model of the Sport 175 from this era is now a rare and little-known piece, overshadowed in the collective imagination by the MAR and Phantom models that would cement the brand’s legendary status a decade later.
