Ducson is a Barcelona-based brand founded by Vicente Solá in the 1950s. After manufacturing bicycles and a large quantity of spare parts for motorcycles, Ducson shifted its focus to creating its own motorised vehicles in 1958. Its first model fitted with a Ducson engine was the Repris, considered the best sports moped of its time.
The Triporteur is the most original model in the Ducson range and undoubtedly the rarest. Whilst its contemporaries were content to offer classic two-wheelers, Ducson opted for a utility three-wheeler with a 49cc engine, designed for small businesses, tradespeople and light urban deliveries. The evocative name ‘Repris’—suggesting recovery, revival and continuous motion—says it all about this machine’s purpose: to work, day after day, without fail.
Its three-wheeler configuration—two front wheels framing a wooden loading platform, with a drive wheel at the rear—is remarkably functional for a 49cc engine. Economical, manoeuvrable in the narrow streets of Spanish towns, and available without a licence, it met the practical needs of a Spain in the midst of economic reconstruction, where small local shops reigned supreme.
1961 was a fine year for Ducson; the brand was in full swing, and the Triporteur represented one of its most accomplished offerings, perfectly aligned with the market needs of the time. The surviving examples are now extremely rare, having been used until they were completely worn out, rarely preserved, and almost never restored.
