MV Agusta was founded in 1945 by Count Giovanni Agusta, son of aviation pioneer Gianni Agusta, on the ruins of the family’s aeronautical factory, which had been converted to motorcycle production out of post-war necessity. From its earliest years, the company pursued two seemingly contradictory ambitions: to dominate racetracks worldwide with exceptionally sophisticated racing machines, whilst simultaneously offering a range of mopeds and light motorcycles accessible to the general public. The Germano is the product of this second ambition.

The Germano Sport 50cc is the most desirable entry-level model. Whilst the standard version makes do with the bare essentials, the Sport version boasts a more assertive character, meticulous finishes, refined mechanics, and a presentation that reflects the high standards of a manufacturer whose name is already associated with the finest victories in world-class competition. Its 50cc four-stroke single-cylinder engine is of a build quality far superior to the category average; MV Agusta does not do things by halves, even on its smallest machines.

1954 was a year of absolute glory for MV Agusta in competition; the brand racked up world titles and established itself as the benchmark in international Grand Prix racing. Owning a Germano Sport from this year means owning a piece of the early history of this now iconic brand.
