Since the pioneering Type A of 1948, Motobic has come a long way. Lorenzo Zabala and his team have learnt from every machine produced, corrected weaknesses, refined the details, and the 1955 range reflects this gradual maturation. The move to 50cc, a displacement that was gradually becoming the European regulatory standard for mopeds, demonstrates a company attentive to market developments and capable of adapting its production accordingly.
Its 50cc two-stroke engine is a robust and well-built piece of machinery, a direct heir to Eibar’s metallurgical expertise. Simple, reliable and economical – the cardinal virtues of the moped of that era are fully embodied in this machine, to which the Basque industrial tradition lends a build quality superior to that of many contemporary models. The Motobic workshops were then in full swing, and the company enjoyed a solid reputation that earned it contracts with the Post Office and the forest patrols of the Guardia Civil.
