The Lobito, meaning ‘little wolf’ in Spanish, is the trail and leisure model in the Bultaco range. Less extreme than the Matador, less specialised than the Frontera, it embodies another ambition of the Barcelona-based brand: to offer an accessible, lightweight and versatile machine, capable of taking its rider on country lanes as well as minor roads. A fun two-wheeler, built for everyday adventure.

Its 125cc single-cylinder two-stroke engine is lively, and the unpretentious 127 model is remarkably reliable. In 1973, the MK7 represented a well-honed version of the Lobito formula, benefiting from several years of feedback from the field and gradual improvements. Bultaco was then at the height of its reputation, and even its entry-level models bore the hallmark of serious craftsmanship.

Today, Lobitos are unfairly overlooked on the collectors’ market. Less spectacular than the Frontera or Matador, they have often been neglected, which paradoxically makes them hard to find in good condition.
