The 101 series has been Peugeot’s flagship moped range since the 1950s. Available in countless versions over the decades, it embodies better than any other the philosophy of the Sochaux-based manufacturer as applied to light two-wheelers: robustness, reliability, affordability and durability. In France, it is everywhere – on country roads, in city streets, in the hands of schoolchildren and tradespeople alike. An entire generation owes its first memories of motorised freedom to it.

The KR version is the sporty variant of the 101 range, a detail in the model nomenclature that matters to those familiar with Peugeot’s internal hierarchy. Fitted with a 49cc two-stroke engine in its most refined configuration, boasting a smart finish and superior equipment to the basic version, it is aimed at a young clientele who do not wish to sacrifice driving pleasure on the altar of practicality. The KR’s taut lines, well-designed fuel tank and finish make it one of the most attractive models in the range.

1978 was a late and mature year for the 101, a fully developed machine benefiting from twenty years of successive refinements, produced at a time when Peugeot held an unchallenged dominance over the French moped market.
