~ CEREMONIAL MUG OR TANKARD

Made of carved ivory and gilded silver (vermeil). The ivory body is carved in bas-relief with a scene of the hunt for Meleager and Atalanta, based on a composition by Rubens. The base, handle and lid are made of partially gilded silver with Neo-Renaissance cartouche motifs. The finial is in the shape of a small genie carrying a shield.
