










Made of embossed copper and polychrome champlevé enamel. The body is decorated with a frieze of turquoise discs featuring polychrome quatrefoils, set against a lapis blue background. The conical lid features alternating fleurons set within turquoise hearts and oval-shaped tinted glass cabochons set in a closed setting.

This pyx has been positively identified in an old photograph of objects from the collection of Julien Chappée (1862–1957). This photograph, held in the Louvre Museum’s art objects documentation archive, thus confirms this excellent provenance, which had been forgotten.
