In the early 1990s, Mercedes sought to attract a younger customer base. The success of the Mazda MX-5 demonstrated that there was strong demand for small sports convertibles. Mercedes therefore unveiled its concept car at the Turin Motor Show in 1994. The response was so enthusiastic that the production version was launched as early as 1996.

The SLK’s success is largely down to its electrically retractable hardtop, offering a level of versatility that its soft-top rivals simply cannot match! The Vario-Roof means the SLK is just as comfortable in coupé form in winter as it is with the wind in your hair in summer!

Our car was delivered new in Monaco, in the 2.3-litre 4-cylinder version producing 193 hp, paired with an automatic gearbox. Following the passing of its owner, it was stored away for many years before finding its way into the previous owner’s garage.

The latter carefully restored this SLK to working order before handing it over to the current owner three years ago. Today, our example is in excellent original condition and has less than 50,000 km on the clock. Unfortunately, its service booklet was lost during the inheritance process…

Offered at a very attractive price for this model, this is an extremely versatile car, the ideal toy to kick off the summer at a bargain price!
