An extremely rare GS 400 of French origin, owned by the same family until 2016!
First introduced in 1953, the original Skylark was actually the convertible version of the Roadmaster. It became a model in its own right in 1961, with the Gran Sport (GS) at the top of the range – a muscle car powered by a 401 ci engine.
The car featured on these pages is a 1968 GS400 Convertible, one of just 2,024 built that year, and surely one of the very few sold new in France. Repainted at an unknown date, it was acquired in 2016 by a young enthusiast who set about giving it the cosmetic and mechanical care it needed, following a prolonged period of storage in an underground garage.
This authentic four-seater convertible is rather rare on our roads and highly prized for its 400 ci (6.6 l) V8 engine, producing over 300 ch, mated to a three-speed automatic gearbox.
An extremely rare example delivered new in France (manufacturer’s plate), featuring a beautiful patina, sumptuous original upholstery, and in very good working order. The nearly 80,500 km shown on the odometer are likely to be genuine
The perfect car for cruising this summer, with family or friends, hair blowing in the wind, accompanied by the purr of the V8!
