Launched in 1986, the Peugeot 505 V6 marked the arrival of the PRV engine in the large Sochaux-built saloon. Its 2,849 cm³ fuel-injected V6 engine produces 170 ch and transforms the character of the 505, which until then had been better known for its robustness than for its performance. Available with a manual or automatic gearbox, it exceeded 210 km/h and became the fastest production Peugeot of its era.

Produced in a run of just a few thousand units until 1990, the 505 V6 stood out for its distinctive styling, its rear axle with independent suspension and its remarkable balance between comfort and handling. Although it remained in the shadow of the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes W124, it is now one of the most sought-after versions of the 505 range.

Our car is one of the few examples to have been delivered new across the Atlantic; in our case, specifically to Mr V., who was attached to the French Embassy in Washington. In 1989, Mr V. re-imported his 505 to France and kept it until his death. Shortly afterwards, in 2003, this fine car found its way into the current owner’s garage. 

Today, this 505 is in fairly good original condition, although the bodywork could be improved in places. In particular, we note a slight amount of corrosion around the boot and on the chassis (see condition report). 

Offered at an attractive estimate, this 505 V6 with automatic gearbox is a great opportunity for an enthusiast looking for something a bit different to drive!
